NEW HAVEN, Conn. (WTNH) — A common drug used to treat joint pain is now being used to help treat heart inflammation, according to doctors.

The Federal Drug Administration approved the use of this medication over the summer, which can now be used to prevent heart attacks for some patients.

Dr. Brett Nowlan, a cardiologist with Hartford HealthCare’s Heart and Vascular Institute joined News 8 to discuss this new treatment and what it means for patients.
