NEW HAVEN, Conn. (WTNH) — According to health experts, hernia operations are one of the most frequently performed surgeries nationwide.

Nearly one million hernia operations are performed each year in the U.S.

Dr. Chike Chukwumah, system medical director for hernia surgery at Hartford HealthCare Digestive Health Institute joined News 8 to discuss when to know if a hernia surgery is necessary.
