NEW HAVEN, Conn. (WTNH) — With Breast Cancer Awareness Month underway, doctors across Connecticut are urging patients to perform self-checks on their breasts this month.

For decades, experts have said that these self-exam checks are a good way to detect early signs of breast cancer.

Hartford HealthCare oncologist Dr. Sapna Khubchandani joined News 8 to discuss what patients should look for and why these checks are essential.
