The number of flu cases in Connecticut is rising, according to the Connecticut Department of Public Health.
Cases of the Influenza-A virus have been rising since late August, however there have also been some cases of Influenza-B reported.
Eighty positive laboratory tests have been reported this season. Emergency department visits due to the flu have increased from 5.1% to 6.3% with 32 confirmed flu cases being reported since late August. Only one death has occurred. The DPH says a second death previously incorrectly reported as being flu related.
The Health Department has also changed its geographic activity classification from sporadic to local.
