Griffin Hospital honors 100-year-old volunteer

Griffin Hospital in Derby is honoring one of their longest serving volunteers.

That’s because Nellie Hapak is 100-years-old. Hapak has been a volunteer at Griffin for over 37 years, logging over 19,000 hours of service.

Hapak said, “Listening to their troubles, or whatever, or being happy, or going through certain occasions  it was nice, I liked everybody, everybody was always good to me, they treated me good, so I lasted all this time.”

Local and state officials were on hand Friday for the “Celebration of a Century” event.
