(WTNH)– This week is “Black Maternal Health Week” is an opportunity to raise awareness about the disparities in healthcare that impact the health of pregnant Black women, and both their unborn and newborn babies.

Doctor Elizabeth Deckers, Director of Maternal Quality and Safety at Hartford Hospital, discusses the role does race plays when it comes to maternal health and birth statistics, and how we can address this inequity in the video above.
