Hartford HealthCare expert discusses sudden cardiac arrest


(WTNH) — We are marking a lot of causes in this month of October, it is also “Sudden Cardiac Arrest Awareness Month.”

Dr. Steven Zweibel, System Director of Cardiac Electrophysiology with Hartford HealthCare, discusses what sudden cardiac arrest is, how it’s different than a heart attack, who is at risk, and what it looks like when a person suffers sudden cardiac arrest.

“Many patients who have sudden cardiac arrest have actually had a prior heart attack that leaves scar tissue in the heart that then leads to these arrhythmias which leads to sudden cardiac arrest,” Dr. Zweibel explained.
