All of Connecticut’s hospital emergency departments will now have “Narcan” available.
The opioid overdose reversal drug will be provided to patients and loved ones when they are discharged from the hopsital.
The life-saving medication is being made available, thanks to a federal grant.
Nearly 6,000 doses of Narcan have been ordered and are being delivered to emergency rooms throughout the state.
The head of Connecticut’s Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services says Narcan is crucial to reducing the number of fatal overdoses.
