A second person in Connecticut has died from influenza, according to a new report from the Connecticut Department of Public Health.
The report says that so far this flu season, 23 people have been hospitalized between August 26 and October 20. Two people have died, including a person older than 65, and one between ages 50-64.

So far, six of Connecticut’s eight counties have had at least one person test positive for influenza, with New Haven county having the most.

The United States is seeing a mild flu season so far this year.
“In the flu season last year, 85 percent of the cases we saw admitted to Hartford Hospital were over the age of 30,” stated Infectious Disease Specialist Dr. Jack Ross.

Last year, over 80,000 nationwide died from the flu, including 154 in Connecticut.
