NEW HAVEN, Conn. (WTNH) – A new school year can lead to anxiety and depression for millions of children, according to health officials.

Hartford HealthCare Doctor Andre Newfield, the vice chair and regional medical director of psychiatry at St. Vincent’s Medical Center, joined News 8 to discuss how to support your child’s mental health.

Newfield spoke about what signs parents should look out for, how parents can encourage their kids to open up about what they’re feeling and even what age a child should be screened for anxiety.
