Woman who suffered stroke in college due to birth control pills shares story


Strokes are the fifth-leading cause of death for adults in the United States.

But it can happen to anyone, even young people. 

Amy Bergeron of Maine said she had a stroke when she was just 19 – a sophomore in college. 

Bergeron noticed her face was drooping too, but she just thought she slept funny. 

She was so close to blowing it off until a friend urged her to get to a doctor.

They eventually ruled she had a stroke from her birth control pills

Bergeron said she is sharing her story to raise awareness that a stroke can happen at anytime to anyone.
