If you don’t comply, your child will not be able to go to school in the new year. It’s a law in Connecticut

The reason behind the requirement is because every year here in the U.S., roughly 20,000 children under the age of 5 are hospitalized because of the flu.

Your child will not be excluded from going to school if you have a signed statement from your health care provider showing that the child as an appointment to get a flu shot.

There’s also a religious exemption.

The New Haven Public Health Department will be holding flu clinics Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday from 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. at their office here on Meadow Street and another on Monday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

As a reminder, we are in the midst of the flu season right now. It usually runs until March, but could possibly go beyond that.
