Christmas arrives on the same day every year, but still somehow folks are waiting until the last minute.

If you need to ship Christmas packages, your deadline to get to the post office is December 20th for first class priority mail and December 22nd for priority express.

Of course you will pay more for this.

On Amazon, tomorrow is the last day for free standard shipping.

If you are worried about folks stealing your packages when they get to your door, you can always send them to the post office.

“The hold is always a great option especially when you are receiving and you know you have a package. That way you can have it held at the post office it’s safe and secure,” says David Mastroianni of USPS in Connecticut.

Right now, the U-S postal service says they’ve processed 16 billion pieces of  mail this season, and they’re averaging about a million packages a day in the greater Hartford area alone.

Also, for peace of mind – know any closure of the federal government should not impact the Postal Service.
