Lactose Intolerance


(WTNH)-Nutrition expert Toby Amidor discusses lactose intolerance including recommendations for eating dairy and some lactose-intolerant friendly products and recipes. Amidor discussed the three big nutrients found in lactose products, potassium, calcium, and vitamin D. She says there are common misconceptions about lactose intolerance. Your body can actually tolerate up to 12 grams in one sitting. To introduce your body to lactose, start slowly like a Greek yogurt or a half cup of ice cream, which has lower amounts of lactose. You can also mix dairy products with other things because it will break down slower when its mixed. Amidor also says it doesn’t matter what kind of milk you drink, they all have the same amounts of lactose.
