Lamont says he has a state budget ‘swat team’ in place

The Governor-elect announced that he will traveling to Colorado tomorrow for the weekend meeting of the National Governor’s Conference looking for ideas.

The Governor-elect announcing the appointment of a 19 member volunteer steering committee to write policy recommendations for the new administration in the next 45 days.

The committee includes prominent Republicans…the most prominent being New Britain Mayor Erin Stewart, plus former Connecticut Supreme Court Chief Justice Chase Rogers.

Another name you’ll know on the committee is J. Paul Vance,  the former longtime spokesman for the Connecticut State Police.

Lamont explained his directive to his volunteer team saying, “Focus like a laser beam on job creation and fixing this budget.”

For now the transition is working out of his former campaign headquarters in the ‘Marlin Works Office Lofts’ in New Haven’s East Rock neighborhood

The team has also been provided with some office space at the Legislative Office Building in Hartford next to the State Capitol.

Lamont saying,   “We’ve got a small but smart experienced budget ‘swat team’ going through each and every one of the items in the current budget cycle right now and taking a fresh look at those numbers.”

Lt. Governor-elect Susan Bysiewicz notes that they actually have a lot less than 55 calendar days to get ready because there are 3 major holiday periods in the next 6 weeks.
