Local store looks to fill backpacks before kids head back to school

News

It might be the middle of the summer, but one local store is thinking about kids going back to school.

Consignment Originals held its “Stuff the Backpack Drive” on Sunday.

The store is collecting everything from notebooks to pencils and crayons for local elementary schools.

The store’s general manager Jackie Leathe says all of the donations go to the schools in the towns where the stores are located.

“[I] hear people talking all the time about limited resources at the schools, and what better way to help than to try to collect as many school supplies for the local elementary schools as possible?” Leathe said.

You can drop off the supplies in Orange, Cheshire, Avon, Manchester and Rocky Hill.

It’s a win-win, because the stores are giving customers 25% off if they donate too!
