EAST LYME, Conn. (WTNH)– A Niantic man was arrested on burglary charges after allegedly being caught stealing from a vehicle in East Lyme on Saturday.

Police say officers responded to 166 West Main Street for the report of a larceny and burglary after a caller reported that he saw the suspect inside a vehicle on the property.

The accused, later identified as 36-year-old Robert Casale, then allegedly left the vehicle after he was confronted by the caller.

Police say Casale continued on to another residence on Indian Rock Road and was followed by the caller until police arrived. After an investigation, stolen items were recovered from that residence.

Casale was arrested and charged with burglary and larceny and held on a $5,000 bond.
