Man killed after car crashes into tree in Salisbury

Authorities are investigating a one-car crash in Salisbury that left one man dead on Thursday night.

According to Connecticut State Police, a car was traveling north on Route 41 in Salisbury on Thursday night. They say say the driver, 74-year-old Dominick Avellino, struck a tree after he traveled off the southbound shoulder of the road for an unknown reason.

They say he was taken to Sharon Hospital and was pronounced dead.

No further details are available at this time. 

The accident is under investigation
