Man robbed in Hamden while putting groceries into vehicle

Hamden police are looking for the suspect who allegedly robbed a North Haven man who was putting away groceries.

According to police, on Sunday around 8:00 a.m., officials responded to the parking lot of 2335 Dixwell Avenue following a report of a robbery involving a knife.

Officials say a 47-year-old North Haven man was putting recently-purchased groceries into his vehicle when he was approached by a man holding a knife.

The suspect allegedly demanded the victim’s groceries and cell phone. The victim surrendered his groceries and called for help, prompting the suspect to flee on foot before entering a red Ford Fusion with a Connecticut plate reading AB47088.

Police describe the suspect as a black man between 18 and 21-years-old who stands around 5’10” with a thin build and short, curly hair.

Officials say the vehicle was being operated by a heavy-set black woman.
