Murphy, Esty met with Trump to discuss gun control

(WTNH) — U.S. Senator Chris Murphy and Congresswoman Elizabeth Esty were among the lawmakers who met with President Donald Trump on Wednesday to discuss gun control.

The President is considering several gun and safety measures, including strengthening criminal background checks, raising the minimum age to buy certain weapons and allowing trained teachers and other school employees to carry concealed weapons.

“The words don’t matter, the action matter,” said Senator Chris Murphy. “I’m not paying too much attention to what he says, I want to see what legislative proposals he puts before Congress.”Related content: Walmart will no longer sell firearms, ammunition to people younger than 21

Trump will announce the ideas he supports by the end of the week.
