National No One Eats Alone Day

DERBY, Conn. (WTNH) – A simple act of kindness, make sure no student eats alone. Irving School and Beyond differences will launch No one Eats Alone Day on Wednesday, February 10th.

Third, fourth and fifth grade students will be asked to talk to other students and invite them to sit with them making sure that no one has to sit isolated by themselves. Lunch can be the longest part of a school day for some kids who feel they arn’t part of a group and with social isolation often comes bullying.

Irving School and Beyond Differences will try to reverse that isolating trend by doing activities asking students to engage in conversation and encourage students to sit with them.

Jennifer Olson, Irving School Principal says, “Students will see the “Be the One” video from Beyond Differences. I want to thank Beyond Differences and their partners for their tireless efforts to tackle an issue which has been ignored for too long.”

Beyond Differences is a non-profit organization dedicated to ending social isolation in schools across the country.
