$1.6 billion American Airlines expansion project begins at LAX

Travelers at LAX Airport in California may be dealing with a headache over the next decade but American Airlines says it will all be worth it in the end.

The airline has started their $1.6 billion expansion project. It will include new check-in counters, centralized security, new technology and meeting areas to make travel a whole lot easier.

“It’s the largest individual investment at an airport in 92-year history of American Airlines,” said Doug Parker, CEO American Airlines.

All of these terminals will eventually connect to the new people-mover system arriving in 2023.

Construction on the fifth busiest airport should be finished in about ten years.
