6th migrant child dies after detention by U.S. Border agents, died from pre-existing conditions


The number of migrant children who have died in custody after illegally crossing the U.S. Border has climbed to six.

The Health and Human Services Department says a 10-year-old girl passed away in September at a hospital in Omaha, Nebraska.

A statement says she had a history of congenital heart defects. According to the department, she died of fever and respiratory distress.

Five other migrant children have died in custody since December, but this girl is the only one who appeared to have pre-existing conditions.
