Affordable Care Act case on halt during government shutdown


Due to the shutdown, appellate court proceedings in a case that could strike down the Affordable Care Act have been halted.

A federal district judge in Texas issued an opinion last month declaring the ACA’s individual mandate unconstitutional.

Last week, a coalition of democratic state attorneys general led by California appealed, but the government asked that the proceedings be postponed because of the shutdown, which has affected the justice department.
