More workers could become eligible for overtime pay under proposal

A lot of working moms and dads could soon be seeing more overtime pay in their checks.

The labor department has a new proposal to make more than a million more workers eligible for time and a half.

Under current law, employees with below $23,000 annually must be paid overtime if they work more than 40 hours a week.

But the feds are proposing to raise that salary level to $35,000.

The department will hear comments from the public before making a final rule.
