Passengers on board plane that skids off runway in Florida to get $2,500, NTSB investigating

Passengers on board a plane that overshot its runway and ended up in the water are now receiving some compensation for the hard landing in Jacksonville, Florida. 

An aircraft slid off the runway at Naval Air Station Jacksonville Airport and fell into the St. Johns River in Florida, WFLA reported on Saturday.

Officials say each passenger will recieve $2,500. The Boeing 737 crashed through a seawall and ended up in shallow waters of the Saint John’s River.

Officials say the aircraft needs to be de-fueled before they can remove it from the river.
