Trump delays planned ICE raids for two weeks

President Donald Trump tweeted Saturday he is delaying the planned immigration raids that were scheduled to take place on Sunday.

Trump tweeted, “At the request of Democrats, I have delayed the Illegal Immigration Removal Process (Deportation) for two weeks to see if the Democrats and Republicans can get together and work out a solution to the Asylum and Loophole problems at the Southern Border. If not, Deportations start!”

The planned ICE raids were scheduled for Sunday, June 23 in 10 cities in the U.S.

KABC reports the anticipated sweep had been expected to be similar to operations that authorities have regularly conducted since 2003 — which often produce hundreds of arrests.
