New Britain dedicates school entrance to city’s longest serving mayor

News

The City of New Britain made a very special dedication Saturday.

Mayor Erin Stewart held a ceremony this morning to mark the naming of the entrance of Pulaski Middle School in honor of former Mayor William McNamara.

According to Mayor Erin Stewart, he holds the record for New Britain’s longest serving mayor, taking office from 1977 to 1989.

Stewart took to social media Saturday to express her gratitude for McNamara’s service to New Britain.

Stewart along with four of the city’s past mayors attended the ceremony this morning.

A new sign at the entrance proclaims part of the school “William J. McNamara Way”.
