New Haven motorcycle officer injured in Route 10 crash


NEW HAVEN, Conn. (WTNH) — A New Haven motorcycle officer is recovering after police he was involved in a minor accident while leading a funeral procession on Wednesday.

Just after 11:45 a.m., New Haven officers responded to the section of Ella T. Grasso Boulevard that doubles as both Route 10 and Route 34 on reports that an officer had been struck by a car. According to New Haven police, the officer, who was not identified, had sustained minor injuries after his motorcycle had struck another vehicle.

New Haven Police Public Information Officer David Hartman spoke with News 8 Wednesday afternoon. An officer was leading the funeral procession and in order to avoid an oncoming car that was separate from the vehicles involved in the procession, the officer swerved and hit a car involved in the group.
