A big celebration in New Haven on Thursday.
A 100th birthday party was thrown for Annie Gallman at the Ella B. Scantlebury Senior Residence on Dixwell Avenue where she lives.
The mayor, her family and others were there.
Gallman was born in South Carolina 100 years ago Thursday. She moved to Ansonia in 1942, then to New Haven in 1955.
Gallman retired from Sargent in the Elm City in 1983. She says she has no secret to living a long life.
“I worked all my life. I love working. I love people. That’s my make up. Anything I can do for you, I do it,” Gallman said.
Gallman has six kids, 20 grandkids and a bunch of great-grandchildren.
