A New York man has been charged for threatening to kill a US Congresswoman.
Police arrested Patrick Carlineo at a house in Rathbone Friday morning.
Officials say the 55-year-old is charged with threatening to assault and murder Representative Ilhan Omar.
According to the US Attorney for the Western District of New York, one of Omar’s staff members received a phone call last month from Carlineo.
He says during that call, he accused Omar of being a terrorist, then Carlineo threatened to shoot her.
Omar is one of three members of congress who are Muslim.
She is also the first Somali-American member.
If found guilty of the charge Carlineo could face a maximum penalty of 10 years in prison.
