NEW HAVEN, Conn. (WTNH) — Vice President Kamala made two stops during her visit to our state on Friday – one in West Haven and the other in New Haven.
Chief Political Anchor Dennis House sat down with the vice president for an exclusive one-on-one interview.
We asked her, what does she think of her visit to the state so far?
CT is a state full of extraordinary leaders that I’ll tell you are not only leaders for the people of CT but are national leaders. Today, I’ve been with Gov. Lamont, but I’ve been with the two senators, Blumenthal and Murphy. I’ve been with Rosa DeLauro and Jahana Hayes, and all of these folks, particularly members of Congress, have not only been fighting for the people of CT but they’ve really been instrumental in delivering the American Rescue Plan, which is going to pull over 20,000 children in CT out of poverty
Dennis asked, “You and President Biden have been in office a couple of months, but what will the people in CT see as the biggest change in their life as you move forward with your agenda?”
The American Rescue Plan. Lifting again, half of America’s children out of poverty. Getting the $1,400 direct payments. This week, we reached the milestone of 100 million checks have gone out. Helping people get through the rest of this pandemic where they don’t have to be evicted, they don’t have to get their homes foreclosed upon. Putting $1.1 billion in K-12 schools just here in CT, people are going to feel it, families are going to feel it, parents are going to feel it, working people are going feel it.
