News 8 providing extensive coverage of inauguration, governor’s ball


Ned Lamont will be sworn in as Connecticut’s 89th governor on Wednesday.

News 8 will be your home for coverage of the inauguration and of other festivities all day and night.

We will have reporters at the Capitol and at the state armory beginning with Good Morning Connecticut.

Later in the morning, Tom Dudchik and the Capitol Report team which will preview the day’s events live, while News 8 Chief Political Correspondent Mark Davis previews Lamont’s oath of office.

At 10:00 a.m., Lt. Governor-elect Susan Bysiewicz will take the oath of office inside the Senate Chamber.

At 11:30 a.m., doors at the state armory will open to the public.

During News 8 at Noon, Davis will be live from the armory while George Colli will be covering Lt. Governor-elect Susan Bysiewicz’s oath of office.

At 12:30 p.m., Lamont will be sworn in as the next governor of Connecticut from the armory. Constitutional officers will take the oath of office as well. The event can be seen on WCTX/MyTV9 and will be live streamed right here on

Following the inauguration ceremony, the inaugural parade will begin at the armory.
