A Woodstock woman is facing embezzlement charges after allegedly stealing hundreds of thousands of dollars from a business she was employed at.

Officials say the investigation began when the owner of Plainfield-based Concrete Floors Company became aware that 59-year-old Cheryl Hicks could be “inflating” her salary as an office manager from the company.

It was ultimately determined that Hicks had been using a company credit card and other bank accounts setup by the company to purchase items for herself. Police say she also used company money to pay for her personal credit card bills.

Investigators say her alleged embezzled monies total to nearly $500,000 in losses to the company over years of time.

Hicks turned herself into police, and is facing larceny charges. She was released on a $10,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in Danielson Superior Court on November 19.
