News 8 is on the scene of a massive police presence on East Main Street in Meriden.

Authorities have confirmed that there has been an officer-involved shooting. While no officers have been injured, police could not say whether anyone else was hurt.

Connecticut State Police is taking over the investigation.

Officers are in bullet proof vests. Our crew has reported hearing gunshots in the area.

Employees at a local business nearby says two cars were going after each other, pulled over in parking lot and started shooting.

There is no word on if this incident has any connection to the search for Middletown shooting suspect Kyshone Jackson, who is accused of shooting a man in the face earlier Thursday. There is still an active search for that suspect.

There is no word on what has caused the major scene, or if any injuries have resulted the incident.
