Officials identify man struck and killed in Orange on Monday

Police have identified the truck driver who was killed after being struck by a vehicle in Orange on Monday.

According to officials, 45-year-old Steven Sylvester of Harwinton was hit by a car being driven by a 79-year-old woman.

Authorities said that Sylvester was standing to the rear of his flatbed tractor-trailer truck, which was parked on the right shoulder of Route 34.

He was then hit by the car, which also struck the truck and a third vehicle.

Sylvester was transported to a local hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.

The woman was also brought to the hospital with injuries, but the operator of the third vehicle was not hurt.

The investigation is ongoing and no charges have been filed at this time.
