Officials identify victim of fatal crash on I-84 East in Farmington

News

One person died and part of Interstate 84 was closed in Farmington Tuesday morning after a serious crash involving a tractor trailer truck.

According to officials, a vehicle being operated by a Plainville man was stopped in the left lane of the highway due to traffic. That vehicle was struck from behind by a second vehicle being driven by 30-year-old Michael Capolupo of Oakville.

Capolupo was then transported to Hartford Hospital where he was pronounced deceased.

The driver of the first vehicle was not hurt.

All lanes have since reopened.

The DOT said that police activity also closed the left shoulder of I-84 westbound between 38 and 37. However, that has since reopened.

The crash remains under investigation.
