EAST HAVEN, Conn. (WTNH) – The area around Palmetto Trail was evacuated Saturday afternoon due to an unknown device in a residence, according to the East Haven police. 

The Connecticut State Police Bomb Squad were called to investigate the unknown device. No injuries were reported. At 1:36p.m. East Haven police and the bomb squad declared the scene clear and safe.

Palmetto Trail has been reopened and residents are free to return.
