A push to improve early childhood education programs across the state.
The Connecticut early childhood alliance along with parents, providers and advocates will be at the state Capitol for an advocacy day.
They’re asking Governor Lamont for more funding to the “Care for Kids” program, which helps low-income families pay for child care costs.
But the “Care 4 Kids” payments are currently in the 4th percentile of the market rate. They hope to raise it to at least the 50th percentile.
Child care centers have only received two small raises totaling 6-percent over the last 17 years.
