THOMPSON, Conn. (WTNH) – Police are investigating a crash in Thompson that left four people dead Monday night.

According to Thompson police, a car was traveling southbound on Quaddick Town Farm Road in Thompson just after 5 p.m. when it attempted to overtake another car traveling southbound. The driver lost control of the car, ran off the right side of the road, and collided with the tree.

The driver, identified as 18-year-old Johan Santana, was pronounced dead at the scene, as well as another passenger, 21-year-old Lixandra Terrero Almonte. Two other passengers, Erika Perez, 21, and Jaslin Perez, 21, were transported to UMass Hospital but died of their injuries.

The fourth passenger in the car, Reyniel Alfonso Lopez, 21, was transported to Rhode Island Hospital via Lifestar and is listed in critical condition.

All five passengers are from Providence, Rhode Island.

Quaddick Town Farm Road shut down Monday night between Quaddick Road and Brandy Hill Road, and police are asking anyone traveling in the area to seek alternate routes.

This is an ongoing investigation.
