News

Four arrests were made after police say they found drugs and a stolen gun inside of a car during a traffic stop in Stratford last Friday.

Police say the Stratford Narcotics Vice and Intel Unit pulled over a silver Kia Forte in the Honeyspot Motor Lodge where they then interviewed the driver, 32-year-old Matthew Prosnick.

During the interview, detectives say they saw narcotics in the vehicle. After a search of the car, a 9mm Taurus containing several rounds of ammunition was found in the center console, along with a ski mask.

According to police, the firearm had been reported stolen out of Bridgeport in October of last year.

Police say they also found several bundles of heroin stamped “DOA,” as well as loose heroin, crack cocaine, narcotics packaging and gloves.

Prosnick, who is a convicted felon with an extensive criminal history, was charged with weapons in a motor vehicle, theft of a firearm, sale of narcotics, criminal possession of a firearm and no pistol permit.

Police say it was also discovered that two passengers in the car had outstanding warrants for their arrest.

Isaiah Gonzalez, 26, had a warrant for failure to appear and was also charged with littering, interfering, possession with intent to sell, weapons in a motor vehicle, theft of a firearm, criminal possession of a firearm and no pistol permit.

Tanya Serrano, 44, had an outstand warrant for failure to appear and was also charged with sale of narcotics, weapons in a motor vehicle, theft of a firearm and no pistol permit.

Edwin Gonzalez, 28, was charged with sale of narcotics, weapons in a motor vehicle, theft of a firearm and no pistol permit.

Each was held on a $250,000 bond.
