PD: Hamden man arrested after dead cats found in home

HAMDEN, Conn. (WTNH)– A Hamden man was arrested on animal cruelty charges Thursday after police found several dead cats in his home last month.

Police say on July 6th, officers responded to 13 Augur Street to a report of animal cruelty. Hamden Animal Control learned that a few days earlier on July 2nd, Halfway Home Rescue removed 16 cats from the third floor residence and took them to a local veterinarian for treatment.

Several other cats were also found dead inside the home. An investigation revealed that the tenant, 36-year-old Aaron Wall, moved out of the residence weeks earlier, and left the cats there without access to food or water.

Wall was arrested at his work address and charged with 19 counts of cruelty to animals He was held on $5,000 bond and will appear in court on September 15th.
