PD: New Haven man tried to steal $200 in candy from Hamden store

A New Haven man is facing charges after allegedly trying to steal $200 in candy from a store in Hamden.

According to officials, on Sunday around 6:00 p.m., police responded to the store at 1125 Dixwell Avenue.

At the scene, officers learned that a man, later identified as 48-year-old Angel Vega, tried to leave the store with the candy.

The store manager then confronted Vega and a physical struggle ensued.

Police said Vega tried to bite and punch the manager before fleeing the scene.

Vega was later apprehended and charged with robbery and larceny.

He was held on a $10,000 bond and will appear in court on April 18th.
