FAIRFIELD, Conn. (AP) – Police have cited a woman who was struck by a van while crossing a Fairfield street, but the driver was not charged.
The Connecticut Post reports that police were already at the scene at the Sky Hookah Lounge at about 1 a.m. Monday because of a report of a person passed out in the parking lot.
While emergency personnel tended to that person, a 23-year-old woman tried to cross the street and was struck. Police say she was drunk and had been denied entrance to the lounge.
The driver said he had been driving slowly because of the emergency vehicles.
The woman was treated at the hospital for abrasions on her foot, shoulder and knees.
She was cited for reckless use of the highway by a pedestrian.
