Police arrest Watertown man for home invasion crime

A home invasion incident occurred early Thanksgiving morning and the suspect was apprehended by Watertown police some time after the crime, according to police.

At 3 a.m., the Watertown Patrol Division responded to a home invasion on Cherry Avenue in Watertown. Residents of the home reported that the suspect assaulted one man during the invasion, then fled the scene.

Officers later identified and located the suspect Adam Benet, 30 of Litchfield, and was arrested. Benet was charged with invasion, burglary, and assault among other crimes.

Benet was held on a $50,000 bond which later he posted. Benet is due in court in December.
