Police identify man killed in I-95 Branford crash

State Police have identified the Shelton man who was killed in a crash that closed Interstate 95 in Branford for several hours last Friday.  

Connecticut State Police say that at 6:44 a.m. on November 9th, 50-year-old Michael Castell was traveling on I-95 northbound, near exit 55 in the left lane, when he lost control of his Ford F-150 pickup truck and entered into the right lane.  He then collided with the Jeep Cherokee that was in the right lane, driven by 29-year-old Leah Russo, of Branford. 

The Ford F-150 then skidded off of the highway and struck a tree.

Castell died from his injuries sustained in the crash. Russo was not hurt. 

The crash closed the highway for several hours last Friday. 

The accident remains under investigation at this time. Anyone with information is urged to contact troopers at 203-696-2500.
