Police: New Haven man held on bond after assault


WEST HAVEN, Conn. (WTNH) – A New Haven man is being held on bond after police say he assaulted a woman at the Best Western Hotel on Saw Mill Road in West Haven.

A hotel employee told police she was asked to clean the room of the suspect and that’s when he attacked her. According to police, she was able to get away to get help.

Police arrested 22-year-old Paul Stephen Lake around 12:08 p.m. Monday afternoon in his room at the hotel.

Lake was charged with unlawful restraint, sexual assault, strangulation, assault, and disorderly conduct.

The victim was taken to an area hospital with minor injuries.
