Police: Suspect shot, stabbed man in assault

A Connecticut man police say shot and stabbed another man last month has been charged with attempted murder.

The Day reports that 20-year-old Alexander Santana, of Uncasville, was arrested by state police on Saturday and charged with attempted murder, first-degree assault, second-degree threatening and resisting arrest.

Police say he spat on a trooper when he was being taken into custody.

Investigators say the alleged assault happened in Windham on Oct. 16. Police responding to a disturbance found a man who had been shot and stabbed. The victim was flown to Hartford Hospital.

Santana was held on $300,000 bond pending his arraignment Tuesday in Danielson Superior Court. It was not clear if had a lawyer.
