Ballot scanner breaks at New Haven polling location

Politics

NEW HAVEN, Conn. (WTNH)– Not everything is going smoothly this Election Day. The ballot scanner broke at one New Haven polling location.

It happened at the Mauro-Sheridan School in the Westville section of town. The poll moderator says the scanner accepted the first ten ballots then just stopped.

It did not affect voting because there is a plan in place for when scanners break.

“So we had to have people manually put the ballot inside of the boxes, which the registrar will have to rescan the ballots after the voting machine comes back on, which it is now,” said Tony Butler, Poll Moderator.

They brought in a replacement scanner after about 90 minutes so all votes will be counted.
