Princess Eugenie arrived at St. George’s Chapel in Windsor Castle to marry Jack Brooksbank, in a dress by Peter Pilotto and Christopher De Vos that was sure to draw some attention.

The 28-year-old daughter of Prince Andrew, Duke of York, and Sarah Ferguson, Duchess of York, revealed the lasting impact of her health struggle on her big day Friday.

Arriving in an off-the-shoulder gown, with a V-shaped back, the bride, Princess Eugenie, made sure her scar was clearly visible.

The scar, which could be seen down the bride’s back, is the result of Princess Eugenie’s scoliosis battle from childhood.

Princess Eugenie was open about her struggle on social media, sharing photos of her x-rays on Instagram for International Scoliosis Awareness Day, June 30. She has made it clear how grateful she is to The Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital, who performed the surgery when she was 12 years old, placing a pair of eight-inch titanium rods near her spine.
